Rafters Retreat, Kithulgala
Rafter’s Retreat was among the first white water rafting operators to set up along the banks of Kithulgala’s stunning river network, just an hour’s drive from hill country destinations like Hatton. If adventure and time in the outdoors is what you’re after, a night or two at this tree house inspired camp offers action-packed rafting is safe and fun for adrenaline junkies of all ages. A day is spent on the river, shortly after breakfast on rapids that are suitable for first timers. Other activities like as mountain-biking, canyoning, temple visits and walks through lowland tea plantations can be experienced at the retreat. The camp has 10 eco lodge or tree-houses set 6 feet above ground level. Each lodge is furnished with twin beds, lampshades, roofed with palm leaves and walled by wooden slats with electricity, plumbing and the bare necessities for a few nights by the river.
