Hideaway, Arugam Bay
Situated across from the main surfing beach, Hideaway is a boutique guesthouse in Arugam Bay with a charming laidback ambience and firm dedication towards sustainability and conservation. Hideaway consists of 14 simple but comfortable rooms located in the main house, and small cabanas around the property. The main villa sits amid a wild tropical garden, with wide verandas wrapped right round two-stories, overlooking the swimming pool and ocean further down. An organic garden, yoga-shala and their funky café all face the beachfront. Six whitewashed cabanas provide slightly more privacy while a large bungalow is best suited for families. Not far from the hotel are some of the island’s best surf breaks – Whiskey Point, Main Point and Peanut Farm. This region of the east coast is ideal for those who want to experience nature and culture, with two wildlife reserves a mere hour’s drive away. Book early to get a room here, as it is very popular and in season is always fully booked.
