The Last House, Tangalle
The Last House, Tangalle
Located along the scenic southern coastline, just past Tangalle, The Last House is a stunning boutique hotel, designed by Sri Lanka’s most famous architect, the late Geoffrey Bawa. Positioned on a strip of land with a lagoon on one side and a fantastically empty beach on the other, this really is paradise. The Last House is designed in a horseshoe shape, with living areas and bedrooms surrounding an invitingly large pool. Rooms are tastefully decorated with chic furnishings, light textiles and local art that add to the relaxed beach ambience. The hotel has its own fishing boat so guests can cruise around the lagoon accompanied by crew and guides, or stroll down to the beach that’s ideal for body boarding and swimming. Should you feel the need to venture further out, the hotel is well positioned for whale watching or safaris in Yala National Park. A short drive from the hotel are the Mulkirigala Caves, which are also home to a beautiful temple and monastery that were carved out of sheer rock formations centuries ago.
