Borderlands, Kithulgala
Borderlands is a rustic camp perched on the beautiful Kelani riverside in Kithulgala, about three hours from Colombo and just an hour shy from the Tea Country. The camp’s surrounds are made up of rugged foothills of the hill country, featuring comfortable tents and cabins located which have been built on stilted platforms looking over the rushing Kelani River and stunning views of the tea and jungle clad hills in the foreground. Borderlands is an adventure and experience operator, and what sets Borderlands apart from other rafting and adventure operators in the area is its commitment to safety and international training that each of its river guides receive. Its minimal footprint on the environment is noteworthy and each tent and cabin and the camp’s Long House have been carefully constructed around pre-existing forest to ensure the camp retains its original wilderness feel. A stay at Borderlands can’t go without experiencing the thrilling and heart pumping activities including white water rafting and kayaking, canyoning and abseiling. For those after a more sedate holiday, the area offers beautiful walks, bird watching and flat water kayaking, as well as refreshing river swims.
