ITINERARY OVERVIEW

Day 1 Arrive into Colombo Airport where you will be met and transfer the short distance to The Wallawwa.  This colonial bungalow has been lovingly restored maintaining its old world charm with a blend of luxurious comforts and stylish design. Negombo The Wallawwa
Day 2 After breakfast drive to the Cultural Triangle and transfer to Anuradhapura, and Ulagalla Resort.  Ulagalla is a luxurious retreat set amidst 58 acres of lush woodland, paddy fields and the Ulagalla Reservoir. Accommodation is in luxurious chalets scattered across the 58 acre estate and overlooking paddy fields and reservoirs. Each chalet has its own plunge pool. Day 3 Enjoy time at the resort this morning, and in the early afternoon transfer to Sigiriya where you will do the climb in time for sunset. Anuradhapura Ulagalla
Day 4 Today visit the kingdom of Anuradhapura. The most significant sites are the 3 largest man-made stupas in Sri Lanka, which were – at the time of the pyramids of Egypt – the second largest man-made structures in the world. Anuradhapura Ulagalla
Day 5 After breakfast check out and transfer to Kandy. En route visit the Cave Temples at Dambulla. In Kandy check into The Kandy House, a carefully-renovated old colonial ‘Walauwa’ (ancestral mansion) in the spice-growing hills that surround Kandy.  Kandy Kandy House
Day 6 This morning transfer to Peradeniya Botanical gardens for a tour with a local  botanist. Our expert in Botany is a walking encyclopaedia and teller of great stories, and is often a highlight of our guests’ time in Sri Lanka. Day 7 Transfer to the tea country by train which takes approximately 3 hours through some very picturesque countryside. Check in to Ceylon Tea Trails at Castlereagh Bungalow. Nestled in a wooded dell close to a lake, this century-old bungalow offers unrivalled water views and superb garden suites. Day 8 This morning visit a local tea factory, and learn about the whole processing procedure and how different types of teas are created. Your host will take you through the entire process. Afternoon at leisure. Hatton Ceylon Tea Trails
Day 9 Transfer to Yala, this transfer takes approximately 6 hours. You also have the option of taking the scheduled sea plane from Castlereagh reservoir to Hambantota, which can be arranged at an additional supplement. Day 10 Morning & evening game drives at Yala National park. The number of mammals that has been recorded from the park is 44, and it has one of the highest leopard densities in the world. The experience is designed to make you experience the spirit of Yala, with knowledgeable trekkers and disciplined drivers. Day 11 Checkout from your hotel and transfer to Tangalle. Upon arrival check-in to Amanwella. Rest of the day at leisure. Tangalle Amanwella

Day 13 Transfer to Galle, passing by the the stilt fishermen in the Weligama area. Stay 2 nights at Amangalla. After lunch do a Galle Fort walk with a local. Stroll through cobblestoned lanes and navigate the cafes, hotels and charming old houses owned by generations of Galle families to get an insight in to their lives, culture and history. Day 14 Today enjoy a Village Tour by Bike and boat, and sample some authentic including Sri Lankan bites. Your journey begins with a boat ride that serenely floats down the Kapu Ela River. You will be accompanied by a local naturalist, followed by a 9km bike ride through the scenic interior villages and paddy fields. Return to hotel and rest of day at leisure. Galle Amangalla
