Cycle Anuradhapura
A fun way to explore the ancient citadel of Anuradapura by bike and discover the ruins of it’s monastic complex and ancient stupas, while learning about the lives of its inhabitants.
The tour starts by winding through the local paddy fields followed by Anuradhapura’s archaeological marvels and ingenious irrigation systems. Weave along hidden paths to ancient jungle-enveloped structures and neighbouring local villages. The ride continues past Abhayagiri Dagoba, the largest Buddhist monument in the world before stopping for a break at the Elephant Pond (Eth Pokuna) . Then head onto the picturesque stupa-fringed Basawakkulama Reservoir where you will witness the local life this tank still supports and visit the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi tree, one of the most sacred Buddhist relics in Sri Lanka.
